Summer graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education and a M.S. in Education in Learning Design and Technology. She taught junior high and high school math for 13.5 years. She currently works at Purdue University as a Digital Coach for Learning Design and Technology, in the College of Education. In total, she has worked as a Digital Coach (often referred to as Technology Instructional Specialist) for more than 7 years in both K-12 education and higher education. In her various Digital Coaching roles, Summer has trained peers, faculty, and staff on digital learning and technology tools; implemented technology integration initiatives; researched and recommended innovative instructional technologies, software, and web tools used to improve learning outcomes; and supported teacher technology implementation through co-planning and co-teaching. Summer enjoys collaborating with others to help them reach for the stars, while supporting them as they facilitate learning with innovative tools and technologies. Additionally, Summer is a Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Expert, MIE Master Trainer, and Certified Microsoft Educator. Summer’s hobbies include antiquing, sewing, and baking. She believes in having one non-techie hobby for every techie-hobby! Life is best when lived in balance. |
